Bloom Our Youth is a nonprofit organization located in Fayetteville, GA. Founded by Jim Friday in 1986, their mission is to strengthen children in foster care and empower the families who care for them.
Bloom is making an incredible impact through the programs and assistance they offer. Bloom maintains the conviction that “Each child is an individual, with the right to the kind of care that meets his/her needs regardless of sex, race, creed, national origin or social circumstance.” They also believe “It is important to preserve and strengthen the child’s relationship with family members when possible, and each youth has a right to stability, security, continuity and a plan for permanence. In 2020 Bloom provided clothing and essentials to 4,114 foster children. Bloom shares that 96% of the foster children assisted reported increased self-worth after receiving items from the Blooom Closet. Of the children who received school supplies from Bloom, 90% reported feeling ready for school after receiving their supplies.
There are several ways to support Bloom. One can donate items, make a financial gift, or volunteer. Bloom currently needs infant to teen clothing, baby gear, full-size toiletries, office and store supplies, school supplies, toys, and gift cards. For more information, visit Bloom’s website.
