We believe when people engage in service, it leads to life change. So we created global(x) trips, opportunities for people to serve together in various locations around the world. Our belief is that as people chose to serve, whether in one of our churches, in the local community, or around the world, the impact of that service will change lives—for those serving, for the people they serve, and even for those that see them choosing to give their time to help someone else.

Meet Our Partner!

Southside began a partnership with Operation Mobilization in Costa Rica in 2012. Since then our church has been able to part of truly extraordinary community-wide transformation in the region.

Our vision as a church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. And our global(x) initiatives are passionate about that same vision globally.

Talamanca is one of the least-reached areas of Costa Rica. Life in Talamanca is not easy. The people from Talamanca have no material possessions. They work the land and get little in return for the produce sold. They have little education and very little contact with the outside world. They have no cellphones, television or cars, and until recently, have never heard the life-saving message of Jesus. Addictions, domestic violence, witchcraft, unemployment and lack of proper housing are just a few of the daily challenges they face.

Our teams from Southside first and foremost bring friendship. Our very presence adds dignity to the community and serves as a tremendous encouragement to the local believers. Our teams may be involved in practical work, house to house visitations and even participating in local church services – where some locals walk half a day to attend!

We go to serve the local, indigenous Church and community, and come with open hands – willing to be flexible with our agendas. We are grateful for our friends in Talamanca and count it a privilege we get to be part of God’s story of transformation in the region.
