Scripture: James 1:27 – “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” (NLT)
Thoughts: Two things you will have to balance at all times in your pursuit of Christ. He wants you to care for others who are marginalized, overlooked, troubled, and easy to ignore. And you will need to refuse the world’s bid to corrupt you; your attitudes, your thinking, and your desires. How are you doing with these two major pursuits? Are these values reflected in your political and religious views? Do you care about all people? Are you being corrupted by something in the world that is affecting your ability to care for people?
Prayer Prompt: “God, help me to see, and genuinely care about people who are different from me. I struggle with caring for people who __________, I do not want my faith corrupted by that anymore.”
